Armani My Way

Armani My Way by Carlos Benaim and Bruno Jovanovic

I should really have reviewed this when it first came out, but an intense version has been released and I thought I’d better get my Armani ducks in a row, so to speak. This was created by prolific genius Carlos Benaim, who has made so many perfumes that shelves would be empty without his contribution, and Bruno Jovanovic, who has created scent for Vivienne Westwood, Beyoncé and Calvin Klein among others.

If you’re a white flower fan like me, then this is a treat for you and I. All the white flowers have been duly gathered into a bouquet any bride would get misty eyed over. Opening with a flourish of tart bergamot which takes the cream off the top, you’re soon travelling down a diaphanous tunnel of white tulle, white petals and fluffy, girly musks. There’s orange blossom (which is very wedding-y: just ask Queen Victoria who had a ton of it in her bouquet) jasmine galore and of course, my beloved sweetheart tuberose. Put these together and you become the beautiful flower in the centre of the room. If you’re not used to white flowers yet, try a tester first. I hope it brings you over to the world of jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose.

There is a modernity to this that I can’t put my finger on. There are other older white flower fragrances that don’t have this lick of vanilla sweetness, but I’m not complaining, I’m just thrilled to see white flowers take over the florist, as is their due.

My Way Intense

A quick review of the new intense version: it does what it says it will and then goes that extra mile. It takes all the tuberose, cranks it up a big white pillowy notch and lets its richness flow unchecked into a thick river of satiny blooms. There’s a hint of both orange and blossom, but Carlos Benaim lets the tuberose do its own thing, unfettered and extravagant. It’s strong and lasts a long time. I adore it. The bottle has a darker blue base.
