Dolce&Gabbana Devotion For Her by Olivier Cresp
Dolce&Gabbana Devotion is not your usual mainstream fare. I’d recommend a try before you buy, because this glamorous bottle is most definitely not blind-buy material.
Where the pear/vanilla or pear/jasmine combo has become almost platitudinous over the last decade, Dolce&Gabbana Devotion breaks rank and comes out with candied lemon peel and orange blossom. It’s an unusual perfume, and one I wasn’t expecting, but then again, this is Olivier Cresp, who created the iconoclastic Angel in 1992. Whilst Devotion isn’t in that same rule battering league, it certainly has something new to offer.

The candied lemon is, unsurprisingly, very sweet and lacking any bitterness that you can sometimes find in citrus fragrances. Imagine a slice of lemon preserved in sugar for a year – more sugar than lemon, and without the sharpness of a sherbert. Now imagine that with some silky golden vanilla. Makes your mouth water, doesn’t it? This tempting blend is finished with a flourish of white orange blossom, that gives creamy tuberose-like wafts throughout the day. Lemon white petals, if you like, with a hint of lemon cheesecake.

I’m not usually a die hard gourmand fan, since much of the past two decades has seen me spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It’s a workplace rather than a comfort zone and smelling like food isn’t a thing I aspire to. However, there are some gourmands I’d pay an arm and a leg for, and this is one of them. Thankfully, I don’t have to, as it is modestly priced. As for the bottle? It’s pleasingly glamorous with its gold lid and elaborate embossed heart.
This is a good buy, but not a blind buy, but it’s definitely worth seeking out.

Where to buy it
I bought my sample of Dolce&Gabbana Devotion as part of the Notino Discovery box scheme here. The full bottle is available from Notino and many other stockists. The cheapest I’ve found is Perfume Click where you can buy 30ml for £35.50. The 20ml is selling out fast due due the cuteness of the heart shaped bottle.
Disclosure
I paid for my sample and opinions are my own. I have no affiliation with Dolce&Gabbana (I wish). I used an affiliate scheme so I may sometimes earn a very small commission for links I use. This doesn’t influence my opinion.
