  1. Happy new year to you & your family. Lot to share with you so a detailed account follows soon. Happy new year to all our fragrant friends.

    1. Thank you Cilantro, not just for your comment, but for dropping by in the past year. It has meant a lot to me to get support from such experts as yourself. Have a very happy 2014 and I shall be following you right back!

      best wishes

  2. Dearest Iscent
A great catholic and all-encompassing set of top fives.
I would count three of your top five as being among my own most precious perfumes (though I could never boil them down to so small a number).
Two of the cheap and cheerfuls should, to my mind, be on every person with an interest in perfume’s shelf…
One simply can’t mention Jolie Madame enough as far as I’m concerned and how could Bal a Versailles lead to anything except carnal conversation!
    Yours ever
    The Perfumed Dandy

    1. Dear Mr Dandy,

The original list was around thirty and it pained me to cut it, like planning a wedding and telling your friends there’s no room (which I have never done).

I’m guessing the cheap and cheerfuls are L’Aimant and Green Tea?

Lisa Wordbird gave me some vintage Jolie Madame for Christmas as well as a mini bottle of Gucci Envy. Now that is true friendship.

As for Bal a Versaille- that’s a fur coat and no knickers perfume if ever I smelled one!

  3. Happy New Year! Loved your lists of 5 – an interesting way of grouping your choices. I’m pleased to say I have 3 in my own collection; feminite de bois, lovely, and rose absolue, all much loved and – more important – often worn. Feminite de bois was my choice for the Christmas hols, I like it at home even more than for going out (i have the ‘eau timide’ as well as the edp, and the ET is really easy to wear). I’m looking forward to hearing your plans for 2014!

    1. Dear Alice,

Thank you for dropping by as ever. You have great taste ( as do I :-)). Do you find Feminite du Bois civety at all? I found it very animalic, which is not always a bad thing! It’s a great perfume though, one of those wonders that changes as you wear it and can take you from day to evening.

I love the sound of Eau Timide, as if it hides behinds the other bottles and doesn’t like to be used!

A very happy new year to you Alice and thanks so much for your kind words and comments.

      best wishes

      Samantha

    1. Ah dear Cristalle! It has been my friend for over twenty years. Sometimes I forget it’s there, but when I do, it’s like catching up with an old friend.

      best wishes

      Samantha

  4. I love these lists!!! There are so many this year that i have arrived a little late at yours. SORRY!
We seriously SNAP on quite a few faves. I was chuckling as I read thinking WOW someone else who thinks that. COOLIO!
    Portia x

    1. Thanks Portia! Don’t worry about being late. Blogs are like boxes of chocolates- I dip in when in a certain mood for something.

As for Snapping on favourites- I fist bump you whilst clinking Martinis!

      love Samantha
